Annual reports don’t generally make for exciting reading, but we did our best to change that with a bold, engaging website and a series of animated infographics. Generated in English and French, the infographics capture important stats like revenue, royalties paid to members and new song registrations. Animating them gives the site some added impact, while letting visitors get the most important details quickly.
Two separate timelines summarize the year that was in a clean, elegant design that also works on mobile. While horizontal timelines tend to have awkward user experiences or only work on some devices, these offer a refreshingly simple UX. Users can scroll through dozens of timeline entries with images and descriptions, including the full list of songs by SOCAN members that reached the top of the charts.
Beyond the website, SOCAN wanted a version of the annual report available in PDF and PowerPoint form. The PDF was made available for download through the website, while the PowerPoint played a supporting role during the company’s annual general meeting.
The site looks amazing and the team did an amazing job in pulling it all together, and I am sure the January launch will go smoothly as well.
John Smith, CEO of SOCAN
This version of the annual report marks a dramatic shift in design direction
For years, SOCAN had relied on the same design template for its annual report. Content was presented in unimaginative blocks with a drab colour scheme, but we brought a fresh look and experience by introducing more interactive elements, segmenting content for easier reading and giving visuals more room to shine.
